Ohio Law Instruction
Ohio has arguably the toughest concealed carry laws in the country. The punishment for violating these laws is typically in a felony, which will dramatically affect your life.

Ohio concealed carry instructors are not  require to know or to teach Ohio's law and therefore they receive no formal training. Some of what they teach is second hand, out of date, and incorrect. This is why Armed2Defend LLC has teamed up with the most knowledgeable and experienced firearm attorney in the state, attorney/author Ken Hanson. Please take a look at his bio to see why he is the best for this training. Don't trust your training to opinions from an uneducated instructor; trust an attorney who actually specializes in defending concealed carriers in court.

Carrying Options

If you have not yet selected a carry pistol, Armed2Defend recommends that you wait until after you attend the class in order to get a better idea on what type would work best for you and your lifestyle. In the class we discuss handgun and holster selection.

Out of State License Training

For Ohio residents, out of state licenses should be a supplement and not a replacement to your Ohio license. Florida or other state license courses do not result in an Ohio concealed carry license. From the course you receive a license from another state, like Florida. The training is specific to that state's laws, and not Ohio's.

Because of reciprocity agreements between states, some out of state concealed carry licenses are currently accepted in Ohio. However, if the reciprocity agreements change, you could be left concealed carrying illegally in Ohio without knowing it.  Also, the state could stop accepting out of state license applications so you would be unable to renew your license.

As an Ohio resident, your best bet is to first get the Ohio license, then add supplemental state licenses if you need to be able to conceal carry in states that are not covered by the Ohio's license. Armed2Defend's training covers the Florida's concealed carry license training requirements. Learn how to get the Florida concealed carry license to add more states.

Armed2Defend's Private Shooting Range

Armed2Defend RangeRange Location
The range portion of the class is held at Armed2Defend's private outdoor shooting range  in Canal Winchester Ohio. Directions to the range will be given in class. Students will have to provide their own transportation between the classroom and range; carpooling is recommended.

Range Training
Before going to the range, each student will receive one-on-one instruction on the proper technique for using a handgun in the classroom with a training gun. At the range, each student will begin their live fire experience with one-on-one instruction from one of Armed2Defend's range officers. The course is designed to meet all levels of experience from beginner to more advanced.  Even if you have never held a handgun before, you should be confident that Armed2Defend will provide quality training to get you shooting safely and accurately.

Handgun Policy
At the range you will have the opportunity to use either Armed2Defend's handgun and ammunition or you can bring your own. It is suggested that you bring your own handgun in order to improve your skills with the one you plan to carry. The range officers will be able to show you techniques with your handgun to improve your accuracy and speed. If you have not purchased the handgun that you plan to carry; it is suggested that you wait until after the course since many of the topics in the course are focused on the different types of handguns and carry methods. More details can be found in the class details information on each class date about bringing a firearm to the course.

For the concealed carry course, the targets will be placed 15 feet from the shooters. Only handguns are permitted on the range and all handguns will be transported unloaded in a closed bag or case and are not to be removed until you are on the firing line and an Armed2Defend representative has given you permission to remove your handgun. For safety reasons, holstering of handguns are not permitted on the range.

Only handguns are allowed on the range and all calibers are acceptable.

Safety
Safety is the primary focus in any live fire exercise; therefore any unsafe behavior and/or breaking of the range rules will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the range and the class without a refund.
